Imminent Deadlines and Details
Before I begin, I must emphasize that the following is not an attack but rather an impending critical statement. As I am writing this email, there is only 9 days and 14 hours left until the Tracy Awards begin. I realize that between now and then each and every one of us has a great deal to do, but I will not be able to organize the Tracy's on my own. I do not get paid to be MTA Network President, nor do I receive any kind of credit. Here is a brief sample of what else needs done: 1) determining what projector to use the night of the awards 2) running the screenings which includes scheduling, creating ballots, programs, running the program and the projector 3) making 200+ Tracy DVDs: importing each senior film, compiling and authoring the DVD, burning each disc, printing the labels and covers, stuffing each DVD case with the cover and finished DVD 4) Tracy "interim" videos for each category: which clips have and have not been finished/collected, how will they be screened 5) ordering a plaque for the Evans Scholarship Award 6) voting: determining a fair system, creating ballots, distributing ballots, counting votes and determining winner + nominees 6) tickets: soon to be printed, determining who receives comps, what locations to sell them at - if any, making sure someone is available to sell tickets during all screenings 7) posters: getting posters approved through ASMSU, helping Sarah L. distribute posters on campus, distributing and hanging all remaining posters throughout community 8) designing and printing programs for the evening, as well as scripting the entire show - the clips, the presenters, the awards, the speakers 9) not only organizing volunteers but ensuring they do what they say they will when they are supposed to do it 10) supplies for the after party 11) making sure there are people to clean up the Procrastinator, the Emerson, and the after party.  These are just a few things that need done that are on "my" list, but I am a full time student as well: I have final projects due, final papers due, a job, mandatory packing and moving out less than 12 hours after the Tracy's end, family coming into town... basically what I am getting at is I need help. And for all the seniors who have not gotten involved yet: I will do everything I can to ensure no seniors have to work the night of the Tracy's. But at the same time, this cannot happen if you show up without doing anything to help beforehand.

SENIORS
Download the "2008 Tracy Film Submission Form": Read It, Print It Off, Turn It In: ALL TRACY'S FILM SUBMISSIONS DUE SATURDAY, MAY 3rd by 6:00PM at CHECKOUT!

Any film not submitted by this time will NOT BE SHOWN at the Tracy's, due to time constraints regarding compilation.  This is a hard deadline!  ABSOLUTELY No Exceptions!

Tracy's Volunteers
As noted above, there is quite a few tasks needed done between now and the night of the Tracy's. Please let me know if you have any free time to help this next week. If you are unable to volunteer any of your time until after finals, please attend the mandatory Tracy Awards Volunteer Meeting next Wednesday, May 7th at 6:00pm.

Sponsors
There are two remaining levels of sponsorship: Award Sponsorship and Pillar Sponsorship. Any businesses contributing to the Tracy Awards will be provided a letter to write this off as a tax-deduction.

Award Sponsors - $100: An award sponsor sponsors an individual award. In both the program and when the award is presented their name will be mentioned. Here are the five remaining unsponsored awards:
*Original Score
*Sound Design
*Distinguished Alumni
*Actor

*Bruce Moore Award

Pillar Sponsors - $200-400: The pillar sponsorships would cover printing and advertising costs: DVDs, tickets, posters, newspaper ads, etc,.

Canned DVDs
Kenny Solberg and I are trying to put together a compilation DVD of the junior fiction and non-fiction films made this year. First, we would like to know how many people would be interested in buying this DVD. It is a great amount of work to put it all together and we want to make sure it will be worth making. Second, we are not going to beg you for your project: if you want your project on the DVD you are going to have to put forth a little effort and help us out by getting us a working file on time. If you worked on a project but do not have the file in your possession, please forward this email to the person who does. Submission format: using Compressor (part of Final Cut Studio: if you do not have it on your computer, it is available on every computer in the NLE) please make a MPEG-2 (.m2v) and a AIFF 48/16 (.aiff) of your project. We will not accept tapes or playable DVDs - hard drive transfers or data DVDs only! There will be a box and a hard drive available at Equipment Checkout. Please turn in all Fall 2007 projects by Saturday, May 3rd at 6:00pm, and all Spring 2008 projects Wednesday, May 7th at 5:00pm. If everyone does their part, Canned DVDs will go on sale the night of the Tracys. If anyone would like to help out on this project, we could certainly use it. Kenny Solberg can be reached at kennysolberg@gmail.com.

I hope while President that I made MTA Network worth your time. There were some rather notable accomplishments and events this year, but there's always room for improvement. If you have any complaints, comments, or suggestions please email them to me at alex@mtanetwork.org.

And remember to come and vote tonight!

Sincerely,
Alex and Bryant
