  • Casting call for Scientist and Outdoor Adventurers:(06/24/08) National Geographic Television is looking for a science-savvy, outdoor adventurer to host a new television series. Our host will travel to remote and dangerous places to help scientists gather data in order to find answers to some of the world’s most puzzling questions.
    The ideal candidate will have a diverse range of experience in fields such as animal tagging, scuba diving, cave exploring, and rock climbing.  Our host will be able to combine adventure with cutting edge science. Experience with high-tech equipment is also a plus.

    JOB OBJECTIVE: PBS seeks a Video Producer or Associate Producer responsible for encoding and assistant editing original online video content. The title will be determined by experience level. Person will maximize the quality and impact of Interactive service offerings with the intention of helping PBS deliver on its vision of being the most trusted, valued and supported media organization in America.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor ingest & encoding / digitizing of video assets / content in a timely fashion, under shifting deadlines and pressures Researching and selecting archival footage, sound and images for use in online packages Develop descriptive text around video offerings and associate images to the video content Create & publish play lists Execute website production including database uploading, online story and feature linking and supporting text Contributes creatively to the development of new original video content for the social network

  • Production Opportunities: MSU Alumnus and former MTA Instructor Karl Swingle is producing a short fiction film as part of his curriculum requirements for his MFA in film from Columbia University in New York City.
    Crew Positions Available:
    1st AD - This is a tough job, and requires an extremely organized individual who will be responsible for ensuring that the production gets the shots it needs before the day is out. They will work closely with the director to determine the shooting schedule, and help organize the camera set-ups in an efficient manner.
    Script Supervisor - Will follow the script to make sure lines are delivered properly, and survey the scene to determine proper continuity of props, wardrobe, and scenery as well as continuity of physical action. Good script supervisors make good directors.
    Director of Photography - The DP will help the Director to compose and light his shots appropriately. Will operate the camera. (The camera will be either the Sony V1-U HDV or the new Sony EX -1)
    1st Assistant Camera - Support for the DP.
    Sound/boom operator - Will be using my personal sound kit and wireless set up.
    2 Grip/Electrics -- Assist the DP to light and set up his shots.
