  • Romeo and Juliet "The Elise Event" - Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, will present a special public performance of "Romeo and Juliet" on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 in Montana State University's Black Box Theater located at 11th Str. and Grant. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with beverages, the performance of "Romeo and Juliet" begins at 7 p.m. followed by a catered reception.
    Named in honor of patron Elise Donohue, all proceeds will benefit Montana Shakespeare in the Schools, an educational outreach program that brings Shakespeare to the schools of Montana. Tickets for the play and reception are $25. Call 994-3901. More about this special event .... (10/16/09)


  • van't hul

    Academy Award Winner and MSU alumnus (1987, Film) Brian Van't Hul will discuss his visual effects work on Coraline on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 7:00 pm, in the Procrastinator Theater in the SUB, on the MSU campus.

    In addition to CORALINE, Brian has worked on NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, FORREST GUMP, all 3 LORD OF THE RINGS films, MASTER AND COMMANDER, I ROBOT and KING KONG, for which he received both a Bafta and an Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 2006. More about Brian ... (11/6/09)


  • Undergraduate film students Nick Andrews, Shane Dowaliby, and Logan Triplett's comedy shorts are in a "fine cut" stage of the National Comedy Contest. They have two films, Heaven and Catchphrase heading for the next round of competition against other film schools. Watch and vote for their shorts! More about their work from the Bozeman Chronicle...   • Prospective Student Orientation for Graduate Program in Science and Natural History Filmmaking at Montana State University scheduled for Tuesdays: November 10, 2009 and February 2, 2010:  This will be an all day campus visit event which offers prospective students the opportunity to meet with faculty and students, explore academic facilities, tour the campus and learn about the MSU Science and Natural History Filmmaking Program. More about orientation...   • Alex White's film, "Une Vignette de Mélancolie", won Best Experimental Film and Samantha Panger, the Director of Photography won Best Cinematography at the 10th Annual Tracy Awards in May. The film debuted in Charleston, South Carolina at the 6th Annual Felder Film Festival as part of Piccolo Spoleto International Festival. (6/8/09)

  • Nick Andrews, a sophomore in the School of Film & Photography is already making his mark as a featured filmmaker for video challenges on MTV's U College 500 Series. Nick's short films on www.bestfilmoncampus.com caught the attention of a casting director and MTVU producers who asked him to apply to be a filmmaker for MTV's U College 500 Challenge.
    NickAndrews Nick submitted a pitch video and the next thing you know, he is flown to Rutgers University where he meets his teammates on the Blue Team. The following day, they hit the road traveling to Penn State, the University of Indiana, the University of Missouri, the University of Colorado Boulder, UNLV, and California State Long Beach.
    Follow the wild 2 week adventures of Nick Andrews and the Blue Team as they race across the country in the MTV U College 500 Series. Nick's video "My hands Are Bananas" has over 5 million views on YouTube. You can also catch more of Nick's work on YouTube. (10-22-08)
